In terms of athletic performances, this Beijing Olympics has been fulfilling.
Some of my favourite moments in order,

1. M. Phelps on the podium with his 8th Gold medal and also awarded a special token for his record 14th total Olympic Golds. That victory ceremony was emotional for all who witnessed it, live or TV. It's a defining moment in the history of Olympics. The whole world will be talking about the greatest Olympian, Michael Phelps. His name will flood through the papers with headlines. He and his relay teammates found it hard and made it possible for Phelps. If you've noticed, the gold almost eluded twice, the first time when the relay anchor won by 0.08secs and the other time Phelps almost lost out in his last swim. The runner-up was already stretched out to hit home for gold but Phelps was swinging his arms to the wall in motion and beat the French.

What is to come after Phelps' outstanding performance at the Olympics? I can only say it will only diminish the single or a couple of Golds efforts other athletes give. The eight-in-one-Olympics will not be broken for centuries to come, but the total Gold tally of 14 could be achieved by another Phelps-like breed yet to come.

2. Usain Bolt coming home first in the 100m Finals with WR 9.69s. In track and field, 100m is the golden event. All eyes are upon the athletics from the starting blocks to see who is the fastest man. Bolt went out of the blocks with almost similar reaction time with the rest and ran shoulder-to-shoulder with them for about 40m. Then he just tore through the pack with his 1.9x frame and even gave a victorious pat on his chest before he crossed the line. It was sensational because he clinched the line in WR speed with an unnecessary pat. With that, we all know he could run even faster times. After the results were out, he went on a long long victory lap. Getting kisses, hugs, photographs with the timer box stopped at 9.69s. Bolt will remember that night his whole life.

3. Singapore's Women Table Tennis getting into Finals, thus assuring a Silver at least.
That evening I got home at 6.30pm and switched on the TV immediately. CNA flashed the result. I was appalled by the result. "We are finally getting a medal ! Silver and better ! OMG OMG !!!" The excitement simply gushed through my veins and thoughts. We'll see later at 7.30pm if we're going further than Tan Howe Liang's Silver in Rome.

4. Tao Li through to the 100 Butterfly Finals. She was a winner in every way because no Singaporean swimmer has got through to a Olympics swimming finals before. And to smash the Asian record in the semi-finals, it was absolutely fabulous. In my opinion, she is the one to watch in our next Olympic medal hunt. She did poor in the finals because she has given it all out in the semi finals to qualify. To a budding young swimmer, that was the limit of her stamina.
