Day 1 (Start of school)
There was the usual dawn stupor when I walked into the college. Many others streamed into the gates and we were all trying to avoid eye-contact. Sleepy me went over to some temporary boards and check my OG no. Ho wai was in my OG!!! Cheers...Yummy..Good wine.. When I saw his name in the same list I was in, the feeling was heavenly.
Fast Forward >>>>
I met some tanglinians from 4e2 and we got flushed up into the hall by the OGLs. The mood was really bad in the hall. Almost everyone was hanging their heads low and keeping quiet. I joined in as well. Here's the sian-sian part... Many teachers were queueing up for their individual addressing to the school bLaH~ bLAh~~~ As the morning break approaches I was more friendlier coz I got to know my first friend in the OG, Eugene. Dilly- dally for 1/2 hour and I spotted my pri-sch classmate Dian Xue. He's a male btw..Quite handsome and strangely taller than me now! He doesn't seems to recognise me.buMmEr.
Seeing my seniors Richmond and Mavis also makes me day brighter :)
Seriously the first day of sch for me was tensed up cause' the sch staff was heavily emphasising on discipline. I know I have no prob. with my self-discipline but the teachers' tone kinda scare me off my seat.
When I got home the wall clock was showing a tired expression of 4pm. The rest of the things I did at home you dun need to know la..nothing exciting to jolt down.
Day 2 ( Admin work)
The second day was like starvation day.I lined up for the registration of the courses but then coz i chose a unrelevant course combi I had to change it and re- queue. Thus I became the last one standing and I missed my break time. Sux man..From 6am till 2pm nv took a bite. If everyday like this, by the time this year ends you'll see a skeleton walking into JJC. Day 2 got mass dance. Wow i haven't held a gal's hand for ages... That feeling was intriguing. I didn't remember whose's hand was that but it didn't matter if it was a chiobu or wadever. I was dismissed at abt 2pm and decided to buy some apparel @ Jurong Pt for the camp. But hEcK I went straight home after sch and slept like nv b4. My legs brought me to JP only at 8pm nia...3 pieces of apparel costs $40+, and I'm down to my last 5 bucks in my saving :) As soon as I got back I was frantically jamming all the clothes n things into the Tanglin sling bag. Sadly, Jian Chao couldn't sleep till 2am when he dozed off and his mind finally rested..
Day 3 (JJC Orientation Camp Day 1)
Here comes dawn, following a heavy rain. My breakfast was light and kind of rush because I always leave little time for myself to travel to sch. Rain (*)&#@(*% rain... unarmed with umbrella, left with no choice but to chiong to the crowded bus stop. One bus came..another followed behind...third bus was as full as the previous 2. Then a group of JJ ppl chatted behind me about going to JJC by taxi. They were really kind to signal me to join them! But tt plan didn't materalise cause' a rather empty bus came shortly after. Wah liew if everyday I'll have this problem with travelling, i'll buy a bicycle and ride to sch! That'll be so fun lor!
Imagine carrying a ton-like sling bag to sch...My shoulders were so sore! Can't wait to stretch my limbs a thousand miles apart to loosen up! Ya once @ JJ Mr Leow the self-proclaimed-youngest-teacher addressed the sch with exceptional long speeches. Hahaa I forgot the camp schedule-now referring 2 da booklet for ideas of what to write down here.
First there was the OG time where we ppl sat in one big circle and played "Ji Niu Nai" or aka Sqeeze Milk. Gosh...This game really takes lotsa concentration n coordination with luck. Hehee I busted one of my OGLs.. She said beforehand that she always lose one... So suay.
MASS DANCE!!! This is the part...Everything gets heated up as I held a girl's hand. I haven't did this for ages...nv had e chance to... I would dance with ^her^ if she's in JJ too. At this pt, I must applaud Richmond n Mavis coz they're just too lovin' dancing together on the platform. Crazy search was really kinda dumb la...i dont want to say what happened.
One of the best games in the camp was the night game's dragon pulse. Now tt's what I call a unique and exciting game! For starters, the game consist of 2 parts. And the gamemaster is actually the parade commander whom I see everyday at the morning assemble lmao..He has to work so hard.. First the gamemaster assigns different items placed on the floor with different no. of pulses. We then hold each other's hand. For instance if he passes 5 squeezes(pulses) in the hand to the line of ppl, the last person will have to pick the correct item. Howe Wai was the 4th last, then me,chiu wo, finally minghowe. HW gave me 7 pulses, but i only passed 6 to the next person who luckily gave 7 pulses to the last man. And our OG won! I'm utterly sorry for the mistake, OG 29. Although my OG completed only 4 out of 10 activities during the night game I've enjoyed myself and got really tired before sleeping.
Basket...we all were having men's talk in our classroom-converted bedroom until like 2am...Wayne n Chiu Wo were like mosquitoes buzzing annoyingly beside me.
We guys kena a warning from a boy who slept in the next classroom. Blame it on chiu wo la...conversed loudly with wayne across the room haha...we are really bad boys.
Day 4 (Camp day 2)
Mad Mad Mayhem n Madness! Despite the fact that I only had 4+ hours of sleep, we're expected to get to the the hall with our heavy luggages in less than 60mins. Here comes the scariest morning in da camp!!! PT before the sun came up to greet the world ! This activity made me sick for the whole morning coz I got stitches on my right abdomen. That gave me an excellent excuse to skip the mass dance lmao! I've regretted it very much coz my back n ass were hurting so much sitting there at the back of da hall with a Tamil boy. As a result I was like the only male who doesn't know the last 2 dances' steps during the JJ nite. My stomach wasn't feeling that well for breakfast due to the crazy PT in da morning which led to me having the loos.
If you know me well inside out, you'll know that I like to find zillions of excuses to keep myself away from tasks. But who cares when there's games?!?! I know I don't cause' after the 2hr mass dance I was having too much energy in me. So on! Play da 3 games @ the telematch like nobody's business. That's me...I try to be damn enthu when it comes to games, especially sports.. So er3 xin1.. The foam n da mud n da flour... I got f***** up as i cleared the first obstacle of da first game as my right eye caught the foam n it was burning like a fireball ! The rest of the obstacles in other games were so-so and we(me n howe wai) got praised by Mr Leow when we were doing the skipping! Absolutely exciting n eventful... I remembered Eugene successfully catching a water bomb that was tossed to him by an FIT member from the left flank. What's his next move? RAN UP TO THE WATER BOMB TANK AND FIRE AT THE FIT PPL! Those ppl cladded in yellow shirts were kind of stunned... BUT IT"S NOTHING WRONG N EVERYTHING"S RIGHT! That was so thrilling lor... How I wished I caught one and did the same..Knowing that time was limited for me to bath before having lunch, the kiasu me grabbed my shoebag and sprinted to the secret bathing spot. Not those in the open one or in the kelong, what were you thinking?!
After lunch, oh o...WORLD WAR 3! BOOM THUD~~THUD~~BOOM! PIANG!!EEEeeeoow..BOOOOOM!Huh? Not that kind...Nor it is close to playing water bombs. WW III is abt completing 10 challenges, each with its own pros and cons. Some requires brainpower but doesn't get yourself dirty, others simply..crawl thru the "mud" and have fun! OG 29 was one of the few unlucky teams to attempt their first n most disgusting/awful/unthinkable/sticky challenge. It really sux at first when I saw what was in store for us. I was thinking, " Huh? Do I really have to do this? That's is so gruelsome!" And I'm sure no one was more "suay" than me in the OG. As I crawled thru the enemy benches and lying on my back n meanwhile pushing myself thru, da gamemaster sprinkled flour on my face! The only thing I saw before I squinted my eyes was flour aiming straight at my right eye. She's not to be blame but it's really my bad hair day... The flour mixture was acting like a body mask lor..leg skin felt like cracking n my arms felt as if in cement casts.
At this point of time of da camp, I started to free my woes and instantly felt the adrenaline and excitment rush in me. Suddenly I become so "ON"... I did a dive-leap underneath the first table in da Soapy h20 challenge and cracked my bone in my right arm. I suddenly lost control/feeling of my right arm for a split sec and my heart skipped a beat. For this my next few days were absolutely cut from the outside streets coz I was doing natural-recuperation without medicine. Walking from station to station with the cool n sticky t-shirt was a nv-b4 experience..The worst I had was to walk naked with jamas n ben from clementi woods back to sch in the rain fuelled by a strong wind. If there was a real WWIII it would last abt 4yrs but our JJ WWIII already lasted some blistering 4hrs!
Maybe it was God's decision, there was one challenge in the war to counter our dirty challenge, right ppl?!? Our track's steeplechase water pit was converted into a "pool" where we dived into it without caring how darkly-coloured the water was. My OG guys n gals had only one thought in mind, that is to clean away the flour n dough stuck on our clothes. Due to my skinny figure, teh half-naked me was shivering as if in North-pole when I took off my shirt to draw water with it. Anyway the WWIII our OG was almost always at disadvantage.. Either the opposition team who played with us had better selection of ppl or that they cheat like nobody's business. We could've won more challenges, but the odds were raised against us because of foul plays...you know.. Everyone including ppl like Lawrence from my family were having their own kind of fun.
I shall not dwell on the JJ nite thing since it'll bore or prolly had already the ppl not from JJ. But ppl, I have lotsa things to mention abt the mass dance and song by Taufik, I Dream. During this mass dance I still didn't get to dance with those gals in my cute list ..Grrr....haha...Nothing went wrong except for the last 2 dances where I became an idiot-dancer instantly. E free dance part was the high tide of da night for me. I was following the FIT ppl in one file n somehow I ended up infront of the elongated stage. Chori~ CHori~~! So fun. I cannot use enough words of enjoyment to express how much fun I had in da 3-day camp.
Day 5 (Last Day of Camp)
It's amazing how 3 days or some may say a week can do to their lives. Just look at our OG 29's E-web. We guys thought it was abt going to da comp. lab n do some survey on the camp. But it turns out to be a time to shed our tears and cry our hearts out. OK la..not so kua1 zhang1. I'll use the word "sob".
TURN-OFFS OF THE CAMP WERE:
*Mr Leow's prolonged speeches accompanied by his poor song n its rhythm.
*Insufficient time for OG members to socialise among themselves.
*Adding on to the previous point, the camp was entirely in a rush.
*Most impt point, the PT b4 the break of the dawn!
OTHER THAN THAT, THE CAMP WAS THE FIRST CAMP I HAD MOST FUN IN!
